Research Interests
Dr. Calamia’s research focuses broadly on neuropsychological assessment, with much of his recent work examining cognition and psychopathology in older adults with and without mild cognitive impairment. A consistent theme in his research has been applying work on the psychometric properties of measures used in neuropsychological assessment to clinically relevant questions. This includes examining the degree to which psychometric properties are robust across different populations, determining whether novel measures provide incremental validity beyond traditional measures in predicting clinically relevant outcomes, examining the consistency of findings across different measures and samples, and teasing apart associations among related but distinct constructs that are often examined at a more global level. In recent years, his lab has also increasingly focused on digital approaches to assessment, including virtual reality, smartwatch-based, and computerized or tablet-based measures.
